        Re-aligning Interfaces to Revised Schedules

Has your project been shut down? Planning for a rapid restart when given the green light? Kelly Maloney hosted a 30-minute webinar to explain (and demo) the concept of integrating interfaces into your revised schedule.

Watch this webinar recording to see how integrating interfaces with the schedule – the revised schedule – can further eliminate project restart challenges by helping to re-establish due dates on all outstanding interface activity – measuring interface performance against new expectations.

        Webinar Q&A

How does interface management assist in interface responsibility transfer? What if one interface point required 2 deliverables?

Our system allows for multiple deliverables (i.e. interface agreements) to be created for a given interface point. In fact, if the deliverables have staggered due dates, it is recommended that two interface agreements be raised. In addition, we also support an action item (i.e. interface query) register which was not covered in the webinar. Action items are a little less formal than interface agreements, but are also used by project teams to exchange information. Action items can be linked to an interface agreements, are always linked to a scope of work or package, and can also be standalone supporting queries more general in nature.

The interface point model supports multiple parties to an interface; which if taken advantage of will often result in multiple deliverables per interface.

Can I import schedule data from the Primavera P6 exported format?

Yes. Coreworx supports importing schedule data from Primavera P6 in CSV format. There are fields within the schedule which are required to be included in the export, such as WBS, Activity ID, and Planned Finish or Target End Date.

Do you have audit logs that show each time a contractor reads or approves something?

Absolutely! Every interface point and agreement will track and audit a history trail which captures all activity and actions taken. In addition, a detailed field level change summary report is available for each document type.  This report tracks all changes to the document; tracking what field was changed, the original value, the revised value, who made the change, and when.

Can I see planned versus actual data in a chart or graph?

Yes. Our solution provides many reports covering everything from summary level status and progress to very detailed reports. The Interface Trends Report  (image below) provides a graphical overview of the actual interface agreement progress made compared to the planned progress. The monthly view of planned vs. actual progress, allows interface managers to track progress visually and see a historical record of progress to date. Potential problems can be identified; for example a growth in the difference between planned vs. actual is an indicator of a potential problem.

Are there any contractor performance indicators I can review for interfaces?

In addition to the trends report, we provide numerous other reports including the Interface Agreement Early Warning and the Interface Agreement Late Acceptance reports.

        • Interface managers use the Interface Agreement Early Warning report to monitor for interface deliverables which are late or about to become due. Interfaces are grouped by scope package and displayed based on status.
        • The Interface Agreement Late Acceptance shows all interface agreements that are unaccepted by the responding or responsible party five or more days after submission.
        • The Interface Agreements Recently Closed and Interface Points Recently Closed’ reports provide project managers and interface managers with the ability to monitor interface close outs. It answers questions including:
          • Is the project progressing on schedule?
          • Are document deliverable deadlines being met with regards to Interfaces?
